Toddlers

NWIM’s toddler program accepts students from 18month-3years. This is the most fundamental crucial time of a child’s life. Children are in an “unconscious learning period” where learning occurs naturally through absorption. Students at this age require the maximum exposure to a variety of stimulating activities and materials to provide them with the best head start in life.

In the toddler class, children are given the opportunity to socialise and interact with other peers through play and working in group activities. Our mixed age setting allows toddlers to develop language and physical skills by observing older students. Older students feel responsible by modeling appropriate skills and behaviours to their younger peers.

Teachers work on activities for sensory refinement, language, problem solving, sharing, grace and coutesy as well as gross motor skills development. As the students engage in these activities they are preparing to enter the next phase of preschool equipped with the skills needed for the “conscious learning period”.
